Simple question, is there any way to set the width of the search box in a datasheet, either via VBA or its Property Sheet?

I'm no expert, but I cant find any way to do that and I believe it's an application defined setting, but wanted to ask experts on this. Thanks

Why isn’t the search box on a form?

I presume you mean the search adjacent to the navigation buttons. It is not adjustable, except to switch on or off.
But it is only a simple search and of little practical use.

As Ranman256 has said. If you need a search that is any good you'll need to write your own on the main form that
the datasheet is on.

The original design did not call for this functionality. And yes, I was referring to the one adjacent to the navigation buttons. Thanks for the confirmation!

Poor design brief then... ;)

It would be very unusual to display data on a form and not have some degree of filtering or search capability.
