Hi everybody,

When I insert a .gif (animation) file, it only shows the picture but there is no animation.

Can anybody help on this?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply,

Actually I need to put a .gif file which itself animates on a form. The method you suggested is for running an .avi file.

Thanks again

i have never done this, so i experimented by putting a GIF on a form that was animated. i put it in an image control, and it did nothing. so you need something that will compliment the animation. the control will obviously not do it. good luck to ya

You can of course make your own using the timer to animate it

My avatar is an animated gif file but does not play when used. However it does play on my desktop as a backdrop.

My original post on this site must have been lost when the site was hacked a few years ago.

Here is an old method I used to display animation (.GIF files) that does not involve ActiveX or DLL's. Check out my sample db link to see how easy it is to use GIF files in your forms.

Animation - using animated GIF files in your db's

You have to be a member to download the sample files.
