Showing value lists in combo boxes

I have a combo box with a simple 2-option value list. In the lookup tab in the field properties box, I have the Row Source Type set to Value List, and the Row Source set to "xxxxx";"yyyyy". I have set "Limit to List to Yes". But, on the Form, although up and down arrows show in the data entry box for the field, the options don't show up, and I can enter anything into the field and Access accepts it. I don't understand why and don't know where to go from here. Can anyone help please.

Lookups should not be set at table level. Use them at form level. See here for why.
