Simple report layout question!

sorry to ask such a simple question!! but how do i put shading behind some selected fields in a report!? - i've triad drawing a rectangle and filling it - but all the obvious options seem to cover up my text! ..can anyone help?

Also to save me all this hassle anyway... can you run a report over your previous template e.g. an invoice?

There is a property, I think it's Appearance, which gives you the choices between Shadows, 2D, 3D,...
You can also get to these options with a click on an icon showing a rectangle (probably the last icon of the font bar)
