Well...for my sports card database I put several different fields and subforms thinking it would be great to have everything right on one form. WRONG...there's so much stuff on there it makes it hard for me to view the information.

So...here's the situation. On each sale or purchase I make, I have to do the following.

1)Select customer from (tblCustomers) or add a new customer record to table.
2) Enter details of specific transaction (tblTransactions)
3) Enter the transaction ID from (tblTransactions) for each card ID from (tblInventory) that is involved with that specific transaction
4) Check and Uncheck two different checkboxes within (tblInventory) for that specific card that has been tied to the transaction to show whether it's online for sale or not, or if it has been sold.

I'm almost back to thinking that it's better to have all seperate forms to do this. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a better way...could you guys share your ideas and thoughts to help my database be more efficient for me.

Thanks!
Brady

Have you considered Tabs?

That sounds like a normalization error. You should not have to tick boxes because the status of the card should be calculated directly from the transactions, not stored in the inventory file.

I have considered tabs...that is definitely an option. I was also wondering about just putting a link in there to open up a new form to do that specific task.

Main thing I'm wondering about is how to create a form that would be easiest for me to search through the thousands of cards I have in inventory and tie them to a specific transaction. This can really be quite a bit of work when dealing with a large amount of cards sold since I want them all to be tied to that specific transaction...

On your 2nd point, in my (tlbInventory) where all of my cards are stored, I have a checkbox for if the card is uploaded to my online store and 2) if the card has been sold or not.

This is why I have to mark the checkbox when I have listed online and also uncheck the box when it is sold because it no longer is available online. as well, I have to then check the box that shows that is was sold.

Somebody told me to do an outside query...that has improved it for the time being but I'm still working on it.
