Access appears to only show my forms in the window sized to that in which it has in the design view.

I've always got round this in the past by using maximise when the form is opened or spend hours trying to align the design window to the form size, but its just not good enough.

I want to have the form open to the size actually used by the form, no more, no less.

I've tried playing with the resize and center option over the years and have never had any joy, where am i going wrong.

All i want is an easy way to have a form open in the middle of my access window and use the required space so i can turn of the scroll bars and border.

in Form view, set the boarder to the size you want it to open to. Then in design view, change the forms Boarder Style to Dialog. Now The form will open the same size every time, and the user cant change it. Keep in mind though, if you go to design view and change the boarder size, it will stay that way in the form view as well.

Access is kind of quirky when it comes to sizing and positioning forms. I got this advice on another forum a while back, and it has always worked. The trick is to position and size your form while in design view, save it and exit. The form will always open as sized and positioned.

Hope this helps (drove me crazy for a long, too)!

There are third-party form resizing solutions available that might help:

A shareware version of a form rescaling module I wrote called ShrinkerStretcher is available at this web site: http://www.peterssoftware.com/ss2.htm

FMS has a sizer module at www.fmsinc.com.

The Access Developer's Handbook has form resizing code included:

For more informmation, there are some great articles about form scaling in the December 2000, and May 2001 SmartAccess newsletter. Check it out here: http://www.smartaccessnewsletter.com

Hope this helps,
