I have been stepping back a bit from my posts. Not entirely so, but I find that a lot of questions these days relate to SQL Server, Azure, and Office 365. My knowledge of these topics is very limited.

I can still answer a lot of traditional questions. I can still do pretty decent lookups of MSFT Learn topics via web searching. I still understand operating system and infrastructure issues. I still have SQL and VBA language reference guides. However, the relatively recent influx of members from UA and other new members has boosted the number of knowledgeable people to help the newbies with simple operational issues. More often these days, I find that when I DO sign in, many questions already have three or more good answers.

I fully intend to continue to act as a moderator and will answer those techie questions that I can. But I find I am getting out of touch with what I perceive as the more popular topics. Therefore, if you see less of me, try not to cheer too loudly. And I'm NOT leaving. Just stepping away from questions I can't answer so easily.

You know I have noticed some of the same things you mentioned. I'm pretty good with SQL server but not azure and some of the other stuff that's been coming up and by the time I see a question like five people have already answered it. Some people are very quick on their keyboard with the new questions. I am not that competitive and can't keep up. But I enjoy reading them and I'm still thankful to be a part of this site from all I have gleaned from it over the years.

We're glad you're still around even if you're not posting as much, Doc!

Doc, you are a wealth of information of a specific type seldom asked for here but often needed. You ask the "Why are you doing it that way?" questions instead of just answering technical details. Often a bad design choice can be forced to work by those technically gifted. Your advice often helps other avoid the problem.

Please don't think of yourself as stepping back. Think of yourself as offering each question more time to ask the difficult parts!

Hey Doc! experience is a grade! Usually even if you dont know specifical technical details, the intuition is something that no new people or people with just technical background can supply or often they overview or mistake. Wish I could explain myselft better in english hahahha is difficult to explain this even in spanish hahahhaha I think different points of views to solve problems is ALWAYS a plus... even if they seem bad or archaic at first view, and I bet u have tons of points of view that people that begins with databases cant find anywhere nowadays. U know... people nowadays try to reinvent the wheel, use the latest technology even if the old one works better and faster, and so on. Just relax if u need it, but know that your experience is VERY valuable even for oldies on databases like me, so I guess its much more valuable for "new" people who will be tired of asking "chatgpts" and being replied stupid things! :)

I do what I can, @unmateria, and my note was letting folks that there are some topics I will avoid. But I'm not going away, just throttling down a bit because so much has changed in the last couple of years on the forum. I'll still give folks the benefit (?) of my expertise when I think I can do so.
