After Texas school shooting, teachers weigh in on how to stop the violence

Following the shooting in Texas at an elementary school that left 21 dead, teachers weighed in on how to stop gun violence and keep kids safe in schools.

Some not all are lacking a strong father figure in their life. Family members are slow to react partly because of the stigma of dishonoring the family. So it is hidden away like a ticking time bomb to be discovered on another day.

The "Solutions to random acts of violence" are unfortunately being suppressed as being repugnant for a civil society. Even investigating the reasons for random acts of violence have been deemed objectionable based on things such as racism. Given those "filters", we will never develop a solution to minimizing random acts of violence.

I've seen children who came from abusive or broken families who turned out better than just good, but the catch is that they came to Jesus and depended on their spiritual Father as their major guidance through adulthood. The same can be said about certain children that grew up in poor families that were bound and determined to not have to live in poverty and became highly successful in life and business. Most of the folks crossing the border looking for a better life don't have much, but will do whatever it takes to establish a life of freedom here in the US.

So the one's that see themselves as victims of circumstances and do nothing positive to correct things for themselves end up in worse situations and may loose all hope at some point. Blaming others for their problems is an easy thing to do but never solves their real problem. The real problem is taking responsibility for their actions and doing something positive regardless of any bad things that may happen along the way. It's a tough pill to swallow when bad things are happening to you that don't seem to be your own doing.

Keep in mind that the creators of these "social" media platforms send their children to private schools which don't allow the usage of these platforms. What do they know that the average person doesn't know? Why do they feel the need to protect their children?

It's been an uphill battle for the last 13 years since the grandchildren have had phones but we always ate dinner together and everyone checked their phone at the door. Now that they all moved out, my daughter continues the tradition. We also have family nights at least once a month when we play cards or other games and just have fun with each other. Friends occasionally join us. We used to have them once a week before boys entered the picture and messed up our weekends and they still have one night a week with no phones.

One of the twins is buying a condo and closing at the end of the month. The other twin is going to move in with her because it reduces her commute also. We'll see if they continue to have dinner together without a phone in their hands.

At least the girls never got hooked on games.
