I have a table with an autonumber field as the key. I also have a date field in this table. I would like to sort my records by the date and have them appear in the form that way. As at now they look just mixed up. Help appreciated.

Use a query to populate the form. Then you can sort any which way but loose.

That sounds a good idea. I only have to ensure I update the query every time I change the table.

Yes - if you add or delete fields from the table you will need to amend the query and the form as well.

It's more than a good idea - it's a best practice. Having queries as the RecordSource to a form allows you to restrict the amount of records that your form displays. The more records your table has then the slower, eventually, your form will be when loading. Selecting only the relevant data (and sorting) it ensures your forms will load faster and non-necessary data is not available for display/manipulation.

If it's just a query to sort the dates then you don't need to update anything. Actually, what do you mean "update the table" - that sounds sinister to me?

Me too - I just assumed it was adding/deleting fields during deveolopent stages:confused:

Nothing more than adding/deleting fields during development stages

Don't you sit and design all your tables before you even think of building queries?
