I have split my database with the Backend and Frontend on a server file. I have created a link to the Frontend for each desktop to the Frontend file. I then placed those links on each desktop computer.

I am in the development stages now but can anyone see a problem with doing it this way? I need to continue to make changes to the Frontend and thought by doing it this way the Frontend that everyone uses will be the same rather than having separate copies of the Frontends on each desktop that will have to be updated individually.

Thanks for any help,
Bill

I can.. As the idea of front end is to give them a personalized copy.. Not everyone use the same file.. So what you need to do is, ask them to copy it to their local Documents folder, thus the one Frontend file will only be used for copying to their folders.

The main file, which will be used for updating/design changes should not be coming into the common Desktop..
will have to be updated individually.
Bob has a tool called FRONT-END AUTO-UPDATE ENABLING TOOL, that should help you with this process.. Hope this helps..
