This is spooky!

A while back I complain about my laminate floor and below my thread there's a sponsored link for laminate floors

I post another thread about my skiing holiday and below that there are links to the very place that I'm going to....

It's even cleverer than that, it recognised Groundrush and decided to post links to parachuting

I removed my post because I thought you were being a tit & I was trying to avoid any conflicts.

Anyway if you read my thread properly I asked how did it work not what it was supposed to do.

Dude...:(

You're right!

I just read reclusivemonkey's last post and the sponsored link underneath was for a book from Amazon called "Get a Life!"......:D

Hi Groundrush. What you are experiencing is the phenomenon of ' contextual based advertisement'. This is where the business bids on key words and the ads are displayed in context with those keywords. Most of contextual based advertisement is on search engines though goggle enables you to have site ads too. Google is revolutionary because they work on relevance. It is fair to say they have a few formulas on relevance. In fact if you are more relevant than your competition you will get a better 'click through rate'. E.g. If your competitors click-though rate is 50% and they bid £1 and your click-though rate is 100% you only have to bid 51p to beat their position.

There is a fantastic potential in this new medium. There has never before been an advertisement medium where you can change things mid campaign. However you can also end up with a huge hole in your pocket if you don’t know what you are doing.

This is just a test, see if any relevant ad would pop up.

........ after a minute :

No, the laminate floor thing is still there :o

Guess that google doesn't recognize quality. I mean the D35 is one of the best steel string guitars there is.

It's more likely that the advertisers are after mass markets not specialist ones. What happens if I put in air travel I wonder?

Not a thing oh well.......

Isn't tandem sky diving air travel? :D

It didn't put anything in when I added it, closed and reopened the thread. It's out to get me:mad:

I should get paid for this, or atleast get a free parachute jump...:D
