Hello All,

I have recently installed MS SQL Server 2005 Express into my WinXP system w/ SP2 installed. It successfully installed and I was able to create a database but now my problem is that it is restricted to my local computer.
Therefore, user's in my network are not able to view my database.

Is there a work around for this?

Thank you,

John

I've not messed around too much with 2005 express but you'll need to add them as local users within the database at the very least (they'll authenticate into the database using a separate username and password). I've not got 2005 here, but if you have a security tab at the server level (as per 2000) the Users section is normally located there, you'll also need to give them access at the relevant levels to the database itself.

If 2005 express allows it you also have the option of Windows authentication if you're on an AD domain. You can create and add an AD group with the relevant permissions to the database(s) which will allow them to connect directly without needing a username and password as long as they are a member of the group concerned.
