hi
i have a fully made up database using access 2007
i have now decided that i want ther database to start from record number 3000 can this be done or is there a difficulty
i have done some research and found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q209696
this didnt help much with my database as it just did not work or i could not get it to work.
could someone help with this please
kind regards
help much appreciated :)

when i follow the steps i actually get stuck on the following procedure

Create and run an append query to append the temporary table to the table whose AutoNumber value you want to change.

could you direct me in the best way to approach this as it says query must have at least one destination field.
ive used the append button and then have pressed run, thats when this message box appears

If you care about what the autonumber is or starts with then you are using it incorrectly. It is ONLY guaranteed to give you a unique number. If there is meaning tio the number then you really should NOT use an autonumber and instead use a numbering scheme of your own (search for DMAX + 1).

umm DMAX is just totally confusing me even though it looks like the answer to my problems could you teach me how to use this function please?
