I have 14 rows of data in my subform, and its duplicating the table 14 times?!?!

Any idea why it would do this?

Thanks,
Mandy

it is a cross tab query.....

I have tried moving the subform from the detail page, to the pge header etc...

Its strange that all 14 tables are EXACTLY the same, and for 14 rows of data...

This is my first subform attempt so its probably a schoolboy error. The sub form is not related to the main form.

I am essentially trying to do a high level "summary" table and then a detail table below it so I was going to use 2x subforms to do this...

I couldn't find any tutorials / databse examples on this site so Im using the wizard.

Thank you,
Mandy

Maybe you should post it here so we can take a look.

I dont really know how to do this, or more importantly, if IT dept allow us to do this.....

I guess I could partially upload the db? How do I do that?

Phew... took a while but I think this db will have the bits in needed.

The main report works fine, the report name with sub at the end does not... as you can see it has 3 rows of data and it duplicates 3x...

Also, I cannot get the DSum to work within a subreport....

Today has not been a good day for db developing!!

Thank you very much for your help with this.

Umm is a form missing? It won't open as it can't find the switchboard name.

First of all, why are you using a subreport with the same query source as the main form? That doesn't make sense. You should have all of it on the main form since the details are not any different than that of the main form. A subreport is meant for showing related records for a one-to-many, or if you want to display unrelated information.

Well...... being a complete "subreport" virgin, I read the microsoft advice pages and I didn't want the mainform to bound to anything to be honest.... i just want it to contain my two sub reports...

I want a summary report that counts the numbers of employees per region and then a detail report which will break out the detail by employee name, building, city etc...

Its the equiv of wanting to summarise sales by quarter and then at a detail, who sold what to whom level, which date etc....

Do you know why it is duplicating?

Next I wanted to add a diff query as a seperate sub report and this would be bound to a select query rather than a cross-tab query

Thanks,
Mandy

ah.... on thje main form and the sub report....

so I'll remove from the main report one then and cross my fingers and toes....

Thank you.

Did you get the chance to look at the Dsum issue?

Works fine in the normal report but I get a #name on teh subreport?

Thanks,
M

I don't see any DSum formula there at all. I do see some SUM text boxes but no DSUM.

Ah... its actually a DCOUNT and it is in the detail section (and the subtotals) and it is the furthest column to the right under the "Total" header...

On preview of the report on the "sub" report, it is the column that comes up with #Name.

What is it actually trying to get? I'm not clear on what you are trying to count.
