Sum of Sub Report

Hi

I have a report which uses sub reports in the detail section of the main report. In the main report footer I wish to sum the results of the detail section, however I can get the report to see the field in the sub report but when I add the Sum() function, the field name I am Summing appears as a criteria when running the report.
Can someone tell me if it is possible to Sum fields in a sub report and if so where I may be going wrong

I forgot to mention that I have tried to put a Sum() in the report footer of the subreport but this just shows the last record displayed on the report
