Tab control anomaly in Access 2003?

I haven't seen this problem defined in the forum so I'm going to throw it out there...

I'm using Access 2003 on Windows XP Home. When I create a tab control the background color is a subtle blend. The top of the working area of the tab control is the same color as the tabs and then the body of the control slowly (almost imperceivably) blends to a slightly darker color. This is all well and good... but... (and there always seems to be a "but")... if your tab control is > 6.5 inches in height the blend STARTS OVER effectively placing a line where the dark hue rests up against the lighter hue! I've attached a sample pic.

I would be curious if others have this same problem. Note: I am sure that this effect won't be seen on older versions of Access (where the tab control is colored entirely differently).

Not much to e-mail you Crilen007.

I just created a blank database and placed a tab control on a blank form with a height of ~ 7.5 inches. (refer to the JPG)

I'm using A2003 and it doesn't happen for me. Check your background. Make sure there is no image.

Pat,

It does it on mine...

And double checked... it does it in both 2000 and 2003 format.
You can see it change even in design mode when you expand it.
With no image.

Could this be a Windows issue? I'm using XP without service pack 2.

I've got SP2 too. My screen resolution is 1280 x 1024 which allows one to see a 7.5 " tab control on a single screen. The rendering anomaly continues to occur when I set the resolution lower and then scroll downward to the offending area.

To add to the intrigue, your comment Pat triggered another observation. The "Back Style" property of the tab control doesn't work like it used to! The tab control draws in the "Normal" mode regardless of the setting of the "Back Style" property. Hmmm (scratching my chin)?

I can only think that Microsoft tried to make the tab control "cooler" (and the blended look does look better than the flat coloration of the past in my opinion) but ended up goofing it up. I hope there is a fix available in the future.

Here's a thought for Microsoft-- why don't you just give the programmer the ability to control the color/picture of the tab control background as has been asked for many years on this and other forums??

Reason I asked for the DB is it didn't do it on mine, I wasn't sure if mine was the same layout as yours.
