Tab Order Problem in A2k

I have a number of forms with 15 plus controls each, that I had previously the tab order set to my satisfaction.

However while making changes to the DB today, unrelated to the forms, I found the tab order to have changed, and in some cases when viewing the tab order, I found only one item listed in the tab order window, a non-existant control called 'TabCtl97'. And on another form, TabCtl97 was listed first with only a few of the other 'real' controls listed in no special order.

I tried compacting the db but to no avail -- the problem persists. Anyone know how this problem came up, and/or ideas on how to reset the tab order, even if its to the autotab setting so the controls appear in the tab order window?

I am not a pro, but I am here. I can tell you that I have never heard of this problem before so I haven't a clue as to why it happened and why you can not seem to clear it up. My only suggestion would be to created a new blank database and import everything except the forms. Then import one form and see if it is working. If so, continue to import forms and see if they are working as well. This is the only solution that I can think of to try and I wish you luck in your quest....

Not an expert either, but the control 'TabCtl97' referes to a Tab setting that you must have on a form. I have several forms that I have placed Tab Controls on them and they will show up in the taborder list.

I haven't ignored the post, I'm like Jack, this one is new to me also.

Sorry,

Thanks Guys for the response, and will try tomorrow Jack's idea.

Also, Bill's input on the 'TabCtl97'item makes sense as this problem apparently is only showing up on the forms with tab controls.

Will let you all know if I find out anything more on this .... Happy New Year grrrrr

A quick update -- the above problem appears to be quite random in that the newest tab control form (two tabs the same as the others), is working fine, and none of the non-tab control forms are affected -- viewing the tab order shows all the controls on the newer form and the simple forms.

Any other ideas on how to get this corrected?

Another update ... As I am working towards the final clean up stage for the project mentioned above, I had time today to go back and revisit this issue.

As it turns out a simple cut and paste of the controls that were mangled in the tab order did the trick. Obviously it took some considerable 'garbage' time clicking and then moving the forms back to where they were suppose to be aligned, but at least I have the form user-friendly (tab-wise) again... FYI

PS -- I still get 'lost' on the MSDN site -- how do I go about reporting this as a bug for Acc2k, since none of the other Pros here seem to have experienced this before????
