I have a table in micorsoft access with many fields one of which is an ID field. This ID field is an autonumber set to incriment.
recently there has been a problem with this ID field as it keeps duplicating ID numbers the ID is indexed but it is set at duplicates ok the simple solution might seem to be to just set it as a primary key so it doesn't allow duplicates but this does not work it just locks up everytime people try to enter data into that table as they are trying to use the same ID number.
I was always under the impression that this shouldn't happen as an autonumber should never be the same as another autonumber.
Is there anything I can do to make it increment again and not duplicate?
just to add to this I have never had this problem before and I cant think what has changed to make this happen
I hope you can help please send any helpful info to my e-mail if possible
Thanks again
