Hello again, All,
Don't know if anyone has run into anything like this before, but I figured I'd throw it out there.
Our company recently put out the word that A97 would no longer be supported or even supplied on terminals in the future, so I converted all of our dbs to Access 2000.
Currently, virtually all of our machines have both versions of Access installed, but when you use one version to open something, it usually remains as the "default" version until it is manually changed back. Unfortunately, I have one machine (that I know of) that keeps reverting back to A97 seemingly on its own.
Some of our users don't know much about computers in general, let alone what to do if they try to open a db and get an "unrecognized format" error msg. I can't remove A97 from that machine because I don't have admin priveledges.
Is there any way to set a preference to have A2K supercede A97 to keep this from happening?
Your thoughts would be appreciated!!

How do your users open the database? Do they just double click the mdb file? You could set up a short cut that specifies the path to A2k and then the mdb file.

I've put shortcuts on their desktops, but didn't know I could specify A2K in the process...
They generally, as far as I know, use only the shortcuts to get to the db. How does one go about limiting the shortcut to A2K, because that would surely do the trick?

Use this as your model for the Target field in your shortcut to open the db in Access 2000....

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE9\MSACCESS.EXE" "X:\Database.mdb"

This will open Access 2000 and they could then "find" [file open] their db's within Access 2000...

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE9\MSACCESS.EXE"

Thanks!!!

Thanks a bunch!! That did the trick!
Y'all Rock! :D
