I'm currently working on a project database which tracks various milestones on various projects. As part of the process, there are regular update meetings between the project managers and the "people on the ground".
At these meetings, actions are given to each person to focus on what needs doing to move the milestones and projects along. These actions are recorded in the "actions" box on the form which tracks each project.
I have locked the actions field so only the PMs can edit it (by distributing different front ends) thereby avoiding the possibility of someone deleting the action and denying knowledge of it.
After each meeting, the PMs generate the actions report, PDF it and and e-mail it to each person on the project to act as a to-do list. The actions report is simply a document with the project name and the action for each project, e.g.:-
Project 1 - John Smith to chase drawings.
Project 2 - PM to seek client approval on changes to design.
Project 3 - etc., etc.,
Now, I have added a square box at the end of each line to act as a tick box when printed to make it look like a to-do list.
However, I am looking at ways to avoid printing so would like to have tick boxes inserted in place of the boxes I create on the report so it becomes an editble PDF files with a tickable box.
I know it's a long shot but does anyone know if this can be done?
