By default the linked table manager (LTM) uses mapped drive letters e.g. G:\
However, a common issue in split databases is that various users may have different drive letters for the same location. Using UNC paths solves that issue
A recent thread reminded me of a tip for updating Access linked tables to use a UNC path.
Select the linked tables in the LTM, tick Always Prompt For New Location and click OK. Next browse to Network in the Browse window and select the path. The link will be updated to a UNC path as shown below:
