Hi all,

Should I select all the check boxes under the tools menu > references in vb. as this is what I have been told as it stops errors in databases that reference a library that's not available.

Thanks

Off the top of my head I can think of two reasons not to do this and one to do it.

First and primary not-to-do reason, memory: Windows will load all the DLLs you reference and throw them into RAM along with your app. Not good -- a waste of resources with potential stability and performance problems resulting. Second not-to-do reason, control: if you are writing and subsequently supporting an application, you will want to know everything you can about it. Simply adding all references because it's not clear which you do need -- assuming this is the case here -- will only confuse matters.

My one reason to do this: a macabre interest to see what happens...let us know if anything blows up (be sure to back things up first if you do this). After the test, though, I would try to simply check the references you need.

Regards,
Tim
