Hi, dont know the terminology to use so havent had any luck searching.

I have a list of people and who they report into in two columns on a report. Obviously in the manager column it reports multiple instances of the manager. What i want is one line where the first column is the manager, but in subsequent columns to the right the list of people reporting into them:

Manager | Employee 1 | Employee 2 | Employee 3 | etc.

essentially i just want to transpose the right hand column, but with 400+ managers dont want to do it by hand. There are different numbers of reports, too, so the transpose needs to be flexible, too.

Any ideas?

have you tried ConcatRelated() function of Allen Browne on your query.

some example data to demonstrate exactly what you mean would be helpful. But you mention report - so just move the relevant controls until they are in the right order

Based on your headings - I don't see why a manager would have multiple instances since all employees are on the same line
