Types of Likes (1 Viewer)

I know it's been started by Facebook, but I never have thought about it this way. Hope somebody knows the answer.
I saw the other day someone gave an Angry Like to another member.

Is it a +1 to the total likes of the receiver? or a -1?
If it's a +1, does it make sense to give a like (even though an angry one) to somebody where you think his post is not appropriate?
If it's a -1, there's 6 styles of Likes. Which one of the six likes have a -1 effect? Only angry one?

you probably saw Richard's reaction to me. That's the only angry face I've seen around here since Jon implemented the new software.

I was just trying to understand how it works.
