VBA's XML-HTTP request libraries

anyone used these before? I'd like to do a simple HTTP request from any give page, but I keep getting an error: operation "GET" failed. or something like that. I haven't looked into this too much. Just wondering if anyone else has done it. I use GET all the time, but mostly in PHP and web languages. furthermore, I've tried 2 different methods, and both fail with different errors. see below:
