Virus?? Autonumber field reset

The key field of one of my tables which is set to autonumber has unexpectedly reset and starts counting from 24 as where it should be 1410.

No query was run.

Is there a known virus that causes such things to happen, cause I'm worried.

Have you recently compacted the database? When you compact a database, the autonumbers reset and reorder so they can clear out any skipped numbers.

Is this going to cause problems for you? Autonumbers should never be used for relationships (in my opinion). You should probably use a custom primary key for large databases with many relationships.
