I have Access 2010 but needed Visio to do other projects. The IT dept. gave me Visio 2007. I installed it with no issues, but when I try to open Access 2010 now, the Windows Installer window opens and it's requiring that I reinstall Office Professional Plus 2010. When I cancel, I get a message that says "Automatic configuration of the current version of MS Access has failed. Your database engine might not function correctly. This can occur if you do not have the necessary permissions to install MS Access on this computer."

Is the only option to remove Vision 2007 and buy Visio 2010? Or have I already screwed up my Access 2010 db files?

Last time I looked into concurrent operation of different versions of various Office applications (some years back) I ran into a recommendation by Microsoft of installing in the sequence of office packages. Try uninstalling all office, then installing the 2007 bits, and then 2010.
