I'm using my laptop to connect to a hotel's wireless internet. For some reason they have blocked my IP address. I tried to replace & renew my IP by going to cmd and doing ipconfig /release/renew. My internet does stopworking when i release & the connection comes back on when i hit renew, however my IP address remains the same.

Can I do something else to get a new IP address? Is there a software I can use or change certain settings on my laptop?

Thanks!

i guess you could use something like hide-my-ip but that usually hides from your router onwards. as you are internal ( this side of the router that prevents internet ), you might struggle as the hotel router will release ip addresses via dhcp to you so if you change to a different subnet, the ip wont work. your ip will need to be in the range of the routers release.

for example, the hotel router might release 192.168.1.10-50 allowing 40 users. as long as you are within this range, you are connected. go out of this range and you're not connected. the next problem is the hotel could choose any range which you would be pretty lucky if you guessed it right.

if its not your connection and you are not actually staying at the hotel, maybe its time to get your own connection and not hijack the hotels.
