Weird layering effect on field label

I've Googled, which landed me here, and then searched on this forum, but the key words which describe my problem are not bringing me answers.

I have inherited a database from a work colleague, which runs on a machine with Office 2003. One of the text labels on a field is behaving oddly. As I click through each record, the text becomes darker and darker. It's almost like each record is layered over top of the previous so that the text becomes denser, but it only happens on one field, none of the others.

I've never seen this before; has anyone else? Is it a prediction of doom (as in, something is corrupted and it's about to fail)?

Thanks for any input.

It runs on Access 2003 -
Are you testing it on Access 2003?
Or are you opening it with Access 2010 and running in compatibility mode?

The Or situation does have weird problems.
It would be best to get a fresh copy of the 2003
Open a new blank 2010
Import all objects into 2010 (from the 2003 version)
Re-set your startup form.

Now, the problem is if you need to take that back to 2003. LOL
I haven't invented time travel - so don't know what would need to be done there.

What type of field is it if I may ask? It sounds like a transparency issue with one of the labels. Have you tried changing the Back Style property to Normal?

I'm using it as is, at its current location. It will remain on this machine, and there is currently no option to upgrade to 2010 (so no point playing with it on another machine with 2010).

Thanks.

That was a bug and a fix included in one of the service packs. Have all service packs been applied?

It's just a text field containing a date qualifier.

I changed the Back Style property to Normal, and it's now behaving like all the other field labels, ie: the layering effect is gone. Thank you! I wasn't aware of that property, so I've learned something.

Weird .. the person who normally uses this database says this has never happened before. I asked "Did you go into Design View and change anything?". Her response was "What's Design View?". She has never even been in that view, and judging by her computer skills, wouldn't know what to do with it if she did. So I find it decidedly odd that this field has recently started behaving like this when the only person who uses it hasn't touched anything (other than generic data input).

I believe so. It's in a corporate environment where these things are all pushed through from the network. .... A quick check has shown that Service Pack 3 has been applied.

Thanks.
