What is an .accde file? How would I create one?

I inherited an .aacde database file. I am nervous that I cannot look at nor update the VBA modules.

There is seemingly precious little information online (and I can't find ANY in the Access online help) that explains what the purpose of .aacde is and how you would create one. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance!

An ACCDE file is a compiled ACCDB file, just like an MDE file is a compiled version of the MDE file. When compiled you cannot view any modules or macros and you cannot do any design changes on forms or reports. This is meant to be able to protect your database from prying eyes as well as simply strip out design stuff that is not necessary for most users to use.

You cannot move from an ACCDE file back to an ACCDB file. You must have the original ACCDB file in order to make design changes to forms, reports, modules and macros.
