What's the difference between the "Enabled" and "Locked" field properties?

If I disable something, doesn't that mean it's locked? I'm not understanding the difference between these properties.

Enabled = No means it is grayed out and unavailable to click in at all.

Locked = Yes means you can't change the data but you can click in it and do a copy of the data.

Setting Enabled = NO and Locked = YES means that it is not grayed out and you can not click in the control nor can you highlight and copy.

disabled ANYTHING means you can't do anything with it. you have disabled it from action essentially. but bob already gave you the DEtails of this strange phenomenon known as the PROPERTIES!
