Wide Area Network Excel file link and refresh

I have a link to an Excel file (local) exported from another db in an offsite location that I was hoping to use in my db. However I cannot get it to refresh when accessing from within Access. Data is obtained across an intranet. At first I tried linking directly to their table and that worked great but whenever one db was being used the other set to read only so that didn't work. With the current setup I created a link within Excel to a query in the other db. I don't get the lockup but I'm not getting the refresh upon entry to the table or db.

If anyone has any experience with this I would be must grateful for some assistance.
