Question Work Project not going well.

I may have posted here before but I am not better off a few months down the line.

I have created an Access database to store data on customers for example. It basically is inputting all of their feedback forms from their visit to my work.

I then want PivotCharts or normal chart of data to be displayed on forms or reports for my admin team to see trends in answers and display the data.

They need to be able to filter this charts by date, and other fields, hence why I suggested PivotCharts but nothing seems straightforward.

Is this a job for just trying to do it in Excel as I am really lost on trying to get it to work. The data just isn't right when I display it and it is getting very messy. For instance the reports ask for a date range to be entered about 5 times and even when printing, you just cant enter it once which is annoying.

I have got so far but with graphs of numbers it does not want to play ball at all...

Basically what should I be trying to do with such a project? I am so unfamiliar with Access after many years of not touching it. I do SQL at university!

Pivot charts & reports are PITA in Access, compared to Excel. I bet the users are familiar with excel and pivot charts there. Dumpthe data to excel, formated nicely/suitably, and let them play in Excel. See what they use most, work on your Access skills, and one day move the suitable what-if data processing parts to Access too.

Alternatively, or in case I was wrong about users being familiar with Excel, spend a lot of time now polishing reports and pivot charts.

But first ..."reports ask for a date range to be entered about 5 times" ... find a tutorial on Access tables, one on queries and one on forms. Once you have done them, then you should not have the problem about parameters for queries (which is the cause of your predicament - because you are unfamilar with how the various Access bits can interact with one another). It is 2-3 hours of concentrated effort versus bumbling along .. your choice
