Would this be good practice ?

I created a database for a small non-profit organisation. There's no special coding, nothing special, only tables, queries, forms and reports. These people don't have much experience with computers.

My goal here is to prevent them from deleting OR modifying the objects by accident (and protecting my work at the same time) so I thought of creating and mde file and hiding everything from them except the startup form.

Creating this mde file would increase performance, minimize corruption risk and disable design view capability. These are my main three objectives by doing so (Am I right ?).

I also have the intention to let them use the database for a month or two to see if they would like to make some improvements. So, during this period, the database would remain mdb to allow possible changes. After that trial period, I would convert the database.

Now, my questions:

1. Can my database be converted to mde at all times or is it better to do it right at the start ?
2. Will all data be kept in the process ?
3. Is my overall thinking ok ?

By the way, is there 100% compatibility between Office XP AND 2K2 ?

Just a little comment by the way. I'm totally new to Access and during the process of creating this database I needed some help. And you were all of great help during that period ! Just great !

Good practice ?

Nice & clear.

Thanks
