I have a problem but it is not a consistent one. I have a form that has a new button on it that is meant to create a new record but when I click it, it sometimes gives me the error "you can't go to the specified record". The weird part is that it sometimes will create a new record but other times it won't, it displays that message. I have looked on the net and found a suggestion of checking the allow additions property on the form but that is set to allow. I don't know what is wrong or how I could fix it.

Could someone help me please?

You haven't really given us much information to go on...but if

  1. You are in a new record
  2. You have a Control that is Bound to a Required Field
  3. You Click on the Go to New Record
you'll get this error.

Also, if, instead of #2, above, you have a Control that has validation code in the Form_BeforeUpdate event that Cancels the Update, if the Control is Null (empty) you'll get this error. Ditto if your Primary Key Field is empty.

Are these conditions true, when you have the problem?
