Heard of a marvellous tweet:

''Guns don't kill people. People who say 'guns don't kill people' kill people. With guns.''

I was going to post that when I saw it - forgotten who it was now, and where I saw them.

Just heard the other day that someone came up with a AR-15 and AR-10 that is acceptable under the New York gun laws. I guess they made it conform to the laws pertaining to the military type weapons. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Good to hear from you again, D7A

Yes, I haven't been on much. I just went thru six weeks of excruciating stomach pain. I got an infection in my toes from wearing wet shoes in WV. When I got back to FL my podiatrist it seems over prescribed an antibiotic, and it did something to my stomach. Her X boss, as she no longer works there said she only should have prescribe to capsule a day. She had me taking 2 capsules three time a day. At first they though it might be stomach cancer. They did cat scan, x-ray, MRI, Bladder scan, kidney scan. My family doctor sent me to a specialist and he put a camera down my throat and said it could be healed with capsules before meals. I was on chicken broth and jello for 5 weeks. It is only this week that I have been back on people food. Now the doctors said it was over medication. I still say it's the buffalo meat Vassaco feed me.:D

If we banned guns - les people would say either. Solved.

Why are gun lovers so totally stupid as to be almost brain dead.
Sure you can kill people with other weapons even with your bare hands, but for most you have to get up close and personal, perhaps in the US Bombs and dynamite can be easily obtained, but I suspect not, unless the place is even madder than I imagined.

Ignoring those two how many of the other " weapons" allow a nut case to commit mass murder, say at a school or theatre?

Brian, dynamite requires permits and purchases of dynamite are actually tracked, along with things that can be used for explosives, such as ammonium nitrate. The latter has perfectly legal uses as a fertilizer, but it can also be used to make bombs like the one used in Oklahoma City twenty years ago.

That said, walking into the 'guns don't kill people' rhetorical merry-go-round is an exercise in lunacy. And consider from whom this is coming.

I did wonder about the 'bombs and dynamite' comment. My thought on the other things is the close-up point you mentioned. If I'm in a crowded cinema with my family and someone starts swinging at people with a golf club, I fancy my chances at possibly protecting them. If the same person has a gun?

"A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again."
"When seconds count, the police are only minutes away!"

Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America :
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

These three short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun Owners by the actions of a few lunatics.
Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. But we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't.
Think about it.....and last but not least,
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military, and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens, or higher pay raises and extra benefits for all politicians?
Just what is it that I'm missing?
But, have faith! Good old fashioned common sense eventually prevails for self preservation and regardless of political affiliation!
Straight Ahead

My question is Brian why do you care about the gun situation in the USA. They already have taken your guns away and so far, you have had no problems. However, your country at the civilian level is unarmed and is in harms way by the coming Islamic revolution. Rem. those four people that were captured in the main square. They were there to behead at least four people.

Sorry Bladerunner I did not realise that this was a US citizen only thread, but before I cease commenting I would like to say that I was pointing out the crass stupidity of Dick's post. I have given my views on other issues in the past including agreeing that you cannot just pass a law banning guns in the US and all will be well .
I do despair at the low intelligence displayed by the gun lobby in their arguments. We had a similar display of stupidity from the Countywide Pursuits mob during the banning of hunting with hounds debate, despite having good reasons to continue some of their activities all they would bang on about was that it was tradition and the city folk didn't understand the country way of life.

Have a good day

You know Brian, I could turn you opening sentience around and add "anti-weapon people" instead of "Gun-Lovers", but I won't as I always maintain it is possible to disagree without being disagreeable. Secondly I don't think you are stupid or brain dead. I do think you are miss guided. If I though that banning guns would make a difference, and save lives, I would give it some thought. I truly believe that banning guns will only take guns away from law abiding citizens, not remove one gun from the thugs, in fact make more guns available to them, make the situation worst, and put the rest of us in more peril. Secondly, It is not just the killings and murders that we are talking about. It is the lost of our liberty, and our form of government. Guns are just the beginning.
Thanks for your opinion.

ps. Just noticed. Yes it is very easy to buy anything in the US on the black market, even dynamite. OK city bombing, mass murder, made his own dynamite. We in the US have a culture problem, Brian not a gun problem.

BTW I have a grandson named Brian. If you beg me I will post a picture of him. :D
