'You can't go to the specified record' (1 Viewer)

I've added a button to a form to create a new record using the wizard, but after saving the form and using it I get the message 'you can't go to the specified record'. Any ideas why?

Check that the forms Allow Additions property is set to Yes.

Could it be that the forms query can not be updated? See:http://allenbrowne.com/ser-61.html

Allow Additions property was yes. I don't have any forms query set up (only tables and forms) so didn't follow what I would need to do in your link. However, I found that the problem was with the record source as I was playing about with linking tables in the form. That second link has now been removed and it works. I may post a further thread shortly about linking tables, but in the meantime thanks for your help.

Technically (if I recall correctly), unless you remember to fully close the underlying recordset, linked tables don't get updated immediately. That record doesn't exist until everything it links with has been appropriate updated. (Assuming that the links involve some sort of parent/child dependency.)
