Hey all

I just got back home from my first NHL game. Very Very good. I have never had this much fun at a sporting event in my life. I really appreciate the skill and the toughness of all of the NHL players.

I watched the Columbus Blue Jackets take on the Vancouver Canucks in Columbus Ohio. The home team lost 2-3 but I still had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. Even if you don't like hockey.

My employer gave me 4 tickets to the game plus VIP parking for free. Excellent indeed. We had LOGE seating which meant that my family and I got to sit in our own little area with a waitress(I think thats what you call them), Internet connection and a TV that was broadcasting the live broadcast or you could have watched whatever you wanted. We also had very good access to the bar.

I have been a hockey fan for a long time but never made it to a game. I must say that the arena (Im not going to say the "Name" of the arena because it is a corporation and i am not being paid by them to tell you their name :) )was great. Lots of entertainment during intermission and during TV commercial breaks. My girlfriend and kids had a great time and they do not even like hockey.

Anyway enough about hockey

Now about the Hotel. The hotel was great also. After the game we ordered some food from room service. The waiter brought up the food and managed to spill a whole tray of BBQ ribs and BBQ sauce on my girlfriends new and expensive jacket and on my jacket. I was about to laugh my A** off until i seen the look on my girlfriends face. The result of this was me getting this over 100.00 meal for free and getting the jackets dry cleaned. :)

The next day (today). I took the family to COSI which is a place with a bunch of science stuff mainly for kids. Learned lots of things there.

Thanks for letting me ramble a little bit.

You'll forgive our ignorance on the subject but I thought the object was to watch the game, or whatever it is you call it ?

Don't mind him, he likes to be snotty.

It's cool you got to enjoy that experience with your girlfriend and her family. I'm sure that will be a favorite memory for many years to come. Personally, I'm not a sports fan of any kind. BUT if hubby scored free LOGE seating, I'd definitely go along for the cameraderie. I imagine it is quite comfortable and has most of the comforts of home, while getting to actually attend the game and be part of the excitement of the crowd. What a wonderful day you must have had.

BTW, has she been able to laugh at the rib fiasco yet?

Yeah, she thinks its funny now. All of the stains came out of the jacket.

Yes Rich that is the object. But it is nice to see replays and such on the tv. Actually we had the TV turned off most of the time.

Thats what i like about Rich. Always trying to stir it up. The sad thing is that i agree with him most of the time. :)

Me too. And maybe the fact that my life has been full of stress lately has made me over-sensitive. I received some tragic news about the health of a close family member recently. So, on top of dealing with insurance claims, keeping up my grades in school (did I tell you I went back to school?), I'm now dealing with family issues and all the social complications a terminal illness brings about. (What do you do when someone thinks they are being helpful by being there... and the truth is that they just add more stress?)

So, :) since my goal is to keep sane and protect some sense of harmony and happiness in my life, you can understand if I'd love for everyone to be sweet and kind to one another as much as possible.

Not like that is going to change anything here... but if anyone cares to understand where my mind is right now.... there it is.

Love you guys..... (yes, yes... Rich too.....)

I'm sorry to hear that. I know how difficult it is dealing with that kind of stuff.

Most people in the 'cooler want that too. ;)

When I was in Chicago my employer got a Skybox at the United Center for a Blackhawks game. It was sort of the same deal. It was LOTS of fun watching the game like that and having room to move around, rather than being smashed together in the seats below.

Just being inquisitive has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion.

Maybe it has something to do with the way you phrase your questions.

Glad you had fun. My city just has a small UHL team, but I've always thought the games were really fun to go to. I never really got into watching hockey on television, but I do like going to see the game. An old high school girlfriend of mine was a hockey nut and had seats right behind the Komets bench so it was pretty cool to be so close to the players and the action. Maybe I shouldn't have broken up with her then. :p

Welcome to the wonderful world of hockey!! NHL games are the best to see - the first time I went to one, we had seats behind the goal, just about high enough so that if it popped out of play I would get it in my face. I spent a lot of time ducking.

Now we sit down low enough so we can see everything, and I just think it is the best sport to see live!

You mean there's a translation problem?

I guess that would be one way to put it. :D

Seriously though, the way you phrase things sometimes you just have a way of associating a negative connotation with things, whether you mean to or not. And then people are automatically on the defensive.

They should learn to read between the lines, as they say;) :D

Well, so do you do it on purpose? Or is that just the way you are? Are you a 'glass is half-empty' person or a 'glass is half-full' person? :D

I'm afraid that would depend on how much is in the glass to start with
