Hi,

I'm rebuilding my laptop which is a Toshiba portege M800 with Windows 7.

I have the OS disc but when I boot from the DVD drive all goes well until I get the message that it will keep all my data in a folder called 'Windows old'.

I want to completely remove all files on the C drive but I don't get the option.

Also tried at the DOS prompt; format c:/s but this is not recognised.

My DOS prompt comes up as "C: Users \ Laptop", so cdo I need to change the DOS code??

Has anyone had this experience & know how I can format the drive??

Thanks

Just delete the .old folder after the reinstall.

Thanks Galaxiom,

I've tried that, left it today to delete & was still going 8 hours later.

Also other folders were also left behind.

The reboot from the DVD works OK, I just need to know why I can't format the C drive in DOS.

Thanks

I found the answer, the way to do it is to select 'Delete' instead of 'Format' as the new OS software runs.

It then creates a new C drive & wipes the old one clean.
