I have a weird one for you guys,

I have a data entry form with probably around 400 controls. From my understanding Access has a 700+ capacity. More likely then not this is due to a large number of controls I have deleted that still have slots reserved for them in the background. Needless to say i get the "Cannot add more records" error and then my access crashed upon adding another control.

I did a little research and learned that copying a form with a new name, deleting the original, and renaming the new one should clear the history of these deleted controls. My problem is that when I copy and paste this form nothing happens. I can copy it and when I hit paste it asks for a name. I type a name, and then hit ok and nothing happens. The form isnt added to the list. I tried to paste it into a different database and got the same thing. I also tried copying and pasting another form and it worked fine. What would cause this problem?

Basically I can't copy and paste, export, or add controls to this form. Every other form allows me to do all of these things. What could cause this?

I tried running the compact and repair utility but that didn't do anything

I have never seen a form with 400 controls.

I believe you've exlcuded labels, image controls, tab controls, frames, etc from your count.

In order to reset the form's lifetime control maximum of 754 controls over the lifetime of the form (including any that have been added then deleted) you can't COPY and paste the form, you need to IMPORT it into another Access database and then IMPORT it back. It will only reset if you IMPORT not copy and paste.

Hmm when i try to import it into a new database I get the same result. It says importing, but then nothing happens. All of the other forms however import fine.

When you say nothing happens, does that mean it does not import?

if that is the case, I would say that the form is probably corrupt. You can try doing a DECOMPILE and see if that helps. Then there is the save as text method. (see #4 here)
