Ok this may be easy for someone but I am totally stumped.

I have a form that I created that uses a table as its data source. The form works just fine by itself.

When I add this as a Continuous Form subform in a tab on the main form it does not even see the records nor does it allow me to change anything. The dropdowns still lookup just fine but nothing works. Does not save the data and there is no errors?

Any help is appreciated,

Subforms are based off Parent and child relationships.

So if you are selected on record A in the main form, you need to also have a record A in the subform or you wont get any data.

I normally do this with a ID field.

I appreciate the reply. Just shortly after I posted the question I had the idea to check the parent forms options for data entry and it was set to no.... After I enabled it then everything came to life. It figures its the simple mistakes that really catch you off guard.

One last question... I hope. After I got the form to insert the data when you close the main form and then open it again the continuous form does not show the records in the table. It just acts like theres nothing there only inserting new records. Any idea?

Found this one too... If data entry is set to yes it goes only to a new record... geez I keep getting stumped by this small stuff.

Thanks for the help,

that's the idea of DataEntry - new records only
Which is why the name of this property is one of the worst Microsoft has ever used! Common sense would dictate that you have to have DataEntry set to Yes in order to enter data, and because this isn't true, it trips up a huge number of newbie developers!
