The original question, and lots of the atheist responses in here show a lack of understanding of manys religious belief. I would guess in the UK even in those who profess to believe in God, very few would opt for their God is the only true God etc etc

That fundamental misunderstanding, makes this thread a waste of space except for the extremes on either side of belief.

Are you'll pouring water down my chimney on purpose or what? First we have a post that talks of Mythological gods (pantheons). I hope that those in the IK that believe in God! would say he is the creator, the first one and only God we have. If they do not then they are just as bad as any Atheist out there. What fundamental misunderstanding that Man is God unto himself or Nature is God. Come on People get real for your soul's sake;

But who created the raw materials to make the button?

My gods outnumber your god and could take him in a fair fight.

To be quite honest,

I can most believe in the Norse Gods,

They promised to be rid of the frost trolls, and to be quite frank.

I see none about today ;) :p :D

Good question but easy to answer and the problem is you know what it is. Yeah,, go ahead and say it. another question on the same level......Who made GOD? These type questions are infinity questions are they not?

The darn chicken came first! ;) :D :p

and that damn dress is definitely Blue and Black! ;)

where did the first couple of everything come from?? scientists still could create a single pair... so definitely there's someone!!

As to that dress - here is another: which way does it rotate?

Hmm this shall remain a mystery, since the animated gif gets converted into a dead .jpg upon upload :(

I don't believe that girl has a dress?

kind of getting off the subject here. Here let me put it back on the road?

Does any of you Atheist out there know what the name of the book or author who wrote about God and Atheist?

Blade

ok no BITES,,,,, I can say this for the atheist, They are prolific when it comes to books against GOD. I just typed in Atheist Books and boy did I get a whole gaggle of them. It would take me to the 'end of times' (pun intended) to read them all. Never did find the book I was looking for. I saw it somewhere on TV the other night. Will keep looking and let you know the title of it.

Blade

I clicked Atheist but if god appeared I would change my mind. As has already been said I have seen no convincing evidence that there is a god and I have seen a lot throughout life to convince me ot the truth of the statement that without religion good people do good things and bad people do bad things but with religion good people can do terrible things.

I have read "The God Delusion" and also "God is not Great" by Christopher Hitchens which I personally think is a better book.
Blade, I refer you to my first post on this thread quoted above. "The God Delusion" is by Richard Dawkins. Hope this helps

I expect Blade is looking for a book where God and an atheist debate the subject and God wins the argument.

I have no doubt that such books exist but they would rely on arguments that only make sense to a theist because they lack the capacity to think critically. Such perspectives are essential for faith to take hold.

So anyone with faith lacks the ability to think critically?

At the risk of irony - can you see any problems with that?

As accepting the existence of God a priori requires precisely that lack, he's right. At the very least, the devout either lack or suppress the ability to think critically when it comes to their own beliefs.

Jesus saved me from that accident, not my thousands of hours of driving experience!
God saved me from that <insert injury or disease here>, not the doctors and their hard work!
God saved me from that fire, not my smoke alarm!
Jesus manifested as a blotch on my pancakes!
God gave me that promotion at work, not my hard work and dedication!
This two thousand year old book is literal truth because it says it is, and it wouldn't lie!
Hell, several months back, in this very thread, we had "1200 AD was 3000 years ago!!!".

I'm not sure you displaying critical thinking there either - just plucking out examples that support your view.

Pots and kettles! Funny though.

Then please enlighten us poor, benighted souls, and provide proof of a scientifically verifiable divine intervention. That's all that has ever been asked of the faithful, and not once has said proof been provided.

ROFL! This has to be the oldest active thread there is out there haha :D
