Is it possible to transplant a nocturnal's eye to a Diurnal being?

Has there EVER been a successful eye transplant?
However, the other part of the question is easier... if the nerves could be made to match up properly (and I have no certainty that it could be done), the diurnal being would be able to see whatever the nocturnal eye could see. But the question is whether that being's BRAIN could interpret the images correctly.
