I inherented a bunch of db from someone else, I've created / maintained db before, but this one has me stumped, the creater has a db, dbA, but dbB and dbC and dbD get the login info from dbA, has anyone done this? How is it done? I guess I get the concept, only one has to be maintained.....
would appreciate any ones thoughts/comments on this

This is commonly referred to as a front end (the forms, reports and modules) - back end (one or more tables only) programs are used for a variety of reasons, the most prominent in my mind is to avoid program bloat and the Miscrosoft Access MDB size limitation of 2 G-bytes. Each part of the FE and BE can each be 2G-bytes in size. BEs commonly reside on a peer or file server; FEs reside on user workstations and are linked manually or programmatically to the one or more backend mdbs.

So they used the db splitter? how would you accomplish this with many db?

Create each backend by creating a new database and using the import wizard to import the table(s) you want and then delete them from the front-end and relink using the Linked Table Manager.
