"The Atheist Foundation of Australia recognises scientific method as the only rational means toward understanding reality. To question and critically examine all ideas, testing them in the light of experiment, leads to the discovery of facts."

Alisa, you are agnostic. No other possibilites there

My point was that Mike's comment that "Some give the game away by using (and living by).....the harder I work the luckier I get...what goes round comes around.." did not make a person an agnostic. See my post that you partially quoted from

Sorry Rabbie, I was actually questioning Micks original quote, just trying to save time by not going looking for it;)

I completely agree with the above statement. How does that make me agnostic?

Just now I am wondering about people who seek their religious beliefs only when it is convenient. Like when they are in huge trouble they are wondering WHY but the rest of the time they feel safe doing whatever irregardless what their religion dictates as being morally right or wrong.

Reminds of a rhyme from one of my school history books.

The Monk when well a devil would be.
The devil when ill a monk was he.

You mean, hypocrites? They're just like the rest of us.

I religiously attend religious services (no pun intended) along with hundreds/thousands of others. Since this is the crowd I run with, they are more prevalant in my paradigm than the (no-doubt) thousands who only acknowledge God when it suits them, whom I also run into occasionally. I'm guessing that you spend more time with the latter, thus, you would see more of them.

FWIW, the Bible calls us all hypocrites, which I freely admit (with shame) to being.

Also (Rich), FWIW, I haven't killed anyone, (I think) and I don't condone it in my leadership. However, I admit (again, with shame) to having plenty of faults that might be as bad, just not this particular one.

We Christians call this odd behavior sin, which (according to my definition of Christian) we all have admitted to doing.

In addition to being proud of being Christian, I'm proud to be American, again, regardless of forum members (usually inaccurate) beliefs about what we are.

I remember when on these forums the three subjects not discussed (because they were so volatile) were sex, religion and politics.

Personally, I think the forums were much better then, it was more like a proper little family. We all got on and didn't have any aggro or disagreements.

Colin, can we take it then that you will no longer be pointing out everything that you feel is wrong with our american friends including their use of english etc

Wow, that is so ironic considering your signature.

Col, I'm really not trying to poke you in the eye but will admit to being confused by this post of yours. Aren't you, at least, more guilty of bringing up 2 of the 3 subjects than anyone else on this forum? I've only been here for a few years but the whole time I have been here, regardless of the thread topic, you have almost always made a comment about politics (mainly American) or some barb about God or the Bible. I have always assumed that you brought up those two subjects for the very reason that you have pointed to in this post. Due to the subjects being so volatile then you knew you were going to get a reaction and that is what you were looking for.

Sex is a much better subject and probably has a more universal appeal.

But you can't argue with how popular this particular thread has been.

Additionally, when we get away from the water cooler, I hold no grudge against anyone (in fact, I don't hold grudges at the water cooler). Everyone here seems to be intelligent and know what they're talking about with regards to Access. I'm really impressed by this group.

Ah, happier times in the world before Bush & Bliar inflicted so much misery:mad:

Don't try and be so black and white.

Perhaps if we knew how life started then lizard to snake would be easy. Does not necessarily mean God but what it might mean is Richard Dwkins stuff has plenty of holes. He already knows that which is why he sticks to "half an eye" is better than no eye so as to skip the problem of being in limbo for millions of years.

lizard to snake and half an eye?

what are you struggling with? the evolution of snakes and why they lost their legs?

or how the eye evolved?
