Hi, Big Jim here:

Not even sure how to write this one out, so I will just explain like the simpleton I am...

I have a .jpg file (guess it could be any format). This file has some odd-shapes in it. I would like to be able to click on these odd shapes and assign them properties. You know, name, color, etc. I would also like to be able to generate aggregate reports on the shapes' data. I am trying not to rebuild the shapes in vb one at a time or something and just use the .jpg file.

Does something like this exist? Thanks so much for reading, and let me know if my explanation is poor, and I will try again.

Do you mean like an Image Map because there are HTML and VB that might work...

That is great starting info for me, thanks! It looks like an Image Map would mostly work. Can an Image Map allow for modification of the shape's properties? For example, can it be used to change the fill color of an image? Now that you gave me a name (Image Map), I can probably look it up myself, but any info provided here is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Big Jim

If you want an Image Map sort of interface with the added functions of changing the appearance of the hot link areas then you would need to look at integrating some flash media into the access project.

Ah, so I could possibly use Flash for manipulating shape (image mapped) properties within an image? That sounds cool. I will look into it. Thanks again, 50-2-1. :)

Ok cool, I can use Flash for manipulating the properties defined shapes in an image map. I will look into that. Thanks again, 50-2-1! :)

From reading this thread I think you could also use Photoshop or Illustrator for the job, couldn't you? Or even the Fireworks slice tool.
You may have your solution in place, but I thought I'd offer a few more options.
Cheers.

Thanks Johnson,

If you know how Photoshop would work in this scenario, I would love to hear it. I am currently working with Photoshop and didn't know how to do it.

Thanks,

Big Jim
