Subreport Does Not Shows Up In Main Report

HI to all,

I HAVE A MAIN REPORT AND A SECOND REPORT. BOTH REPORTS ARE BASED ON QUERIES WITH DIFFERENT CRITERIA(POP UP MESSAGE BOXES) FROM DIFFERENT LINKED TABLES. WHEN THEY RUN INDIVIDUALLY EVERYTING IS OK. WHEN I PUT THE SECOND ONE TO THE MAIN 1) IT DOES POP UP ONLY THE QUERIE'S MESSAGE BOX OF THE MAIN REPORT 2) THE SECOND REPORT IS NOT VISIBLE(ONLY THE LABEL OF IT) ! PLEASE, HELP ME AS THIS IS THE LAST STEP OF MY DATABASE!!

Ok, it sounds like you are using Parameter criteria in the queries ( square brackets around question).. They will pop up anyways because they are bound to the report.

When you added the subreport did you link it to the related field on the main report? look at your queries run them individually ask yourelf with the main query open which field is related in the sub query....you should obviously know this already, but sometimes it helps to compare the data in the datasheet view.

Sorry for the CAPS, as i was in a desperate situation!!
As for being more specific:

My 1st query is from a table with customer details ie. i have a parameter criteria asking for the code number of the customer, and this brings the name (and all the rest info), offer number and order number.

My 2nd query is from a table with order details (ie. payment details) of the specific customer ie. i have a parameter criteria asking for the order number, and that brings the payment terms (by cash, or by card etc.).

So both queries have a common field (Child field and master field), the order number field. As queries they both work ok, as also as when they are in their individual report design.

The problem occurs when i insert my order detail report as a subreport , to my customer details report, where:
firstly i get only the parameter criteria of my 1st query working and not at all the parameter criteria of my 2nd query.
and
Secondly, the order details does not appear at all.

i hope that i gave you more details and if not i will try to post my database even if i have to translate it to English (it is in Greek language)

it would help if I see a copy, make sure to remove any personal data. Don't worry about translating, I think I can get past it..except you will need to translate back to Greek any table/fields you mentioned in english

I just took a quick look.

The Sub report is bound to this query... 02-ORDERS_Paid_QUERY

In that query you have this field... [08-ΠΑΡΑΓΓΕΛΙΕΣ_ΠΡΟΚΑΤΑΒΟΛΗ].[ΑριθμοςΠαραγγελιας] Which I am not sure if you were in the process of renaming, but it has an empty criteria bracket [] I deleted the whole field and when I ran the report it would appear to be working...but you need to verify. You should not need to put in criteria for the sub because it is linked to the main and will only return records based on the ID it is linked to.

I attached the report I ran using the SS001-01 as criteria.

I have just made a quick check of what you said and it seems that you are right!!! i will run tomorrow a new offer-order and check the results. Though, i would like to thank you for your support by leaving you a last question.
Is it possible to have a subreport (with its own criteria) that it is not connected to the main report(ie. same child master fields )?

I missed the notification that you replied...hope it is working now...for your question, in theory it should work. if you explain which field and by what value, I can check it out.

also, I thought I'd mention a better technique for passing criteria to the query.... eg this criteria..Like "*" & [ENTER OFFERID ie SS001-01] & "*" can be replaced by a control on your form like this... Forms!yourformname!The ControlName

You enter the value in the form and run the query...as long as the form is open the query will take the criteria from there....an even better method is to use a Combo control...the combo is setup as a lookup which is more user friendly as a user does not have to know the value or worry about typos.
