Two tables Two fields

Hello all!

I have some problem with two fields in one table (first name and last name) and same two fields in another table...

I'd like to select last name from the main table (purchases) from drop down menu and to have first name in the field next to it to be filled also....

Of course last & first name are in customers table.

How to do that?

The best way?

Redesign your structure. You should have a CustomerID (PK) in the Customers table and you store that in the other table. You do not store the text of the names. Then, when you need them you use a QUERY to pull it all together for display.

You don't present them together in the purchases table. Can you upload what you currently have (without data is fine).

If you can upload the database that you currently have (probably without data so we don't see things we aren't supposed to, unless you don't have anything there that people can't see), I can try to modify your structure to show you. It would probably be faster than trying to build a sample.

I'll have to take a look when I get home (I don't have 2007 here at work). Unless you want to open your database and then go to a SAVE AS to save it to 2002-2003 format and then upload for me. I may not have time tonight if I have to wait as I have a user group meeting and then have to do some grocery shopping afterwards.
