    Linked Tables/ Obdc Db..lots Of ?'s

Sometimes updating queries is troublesome... I'm not even close to being an authority on this, but here is something to think about: 1. If the two tables are related one-to-many, and the one you want to update is the 'many', your query must be set to accept inconsistent updates in it's...

    Opening Activex Object

This may be of no help, but just in case... When I create an Outlook Email message in VB, The object and the item are called seperately. (Your code looks like it tries to combine the calling of an ActiveX object with the specific ActiveX file) So for example dim MyOLapp as OLapp dim MyOLitem...

Can I programmatically disconnect users from a backend db?

Thanks There are numerous threads floating around on how to do that. I prefer the non-use [no activity for x minutes] method. This is great - thank you very much! How hard did you search? I was hoping asking for mercy would save me from comments like that! ;) No, really, I searched for...

Can I programmatically disconnect users from a backend db?

I don't use this often... I think I'm going to ask something that may be posted here somewhere, but I couldn't find anything in the search, so have mercy... I have an Access 2000 database that is shared over a network (Novell). The backend lives in a shared network drive. Then there are...

    Do we need moderators?

    David R - Thanks! That's just what I needed.

    Do we need moderators?

Col - good reply, and I agree whole-heartedly. I liked the idea of the FAQ page. And as it was suggested earlier, the person who puts it together will probably use some post titles that are easier to search, which at least for me, will save time, and probably cut down on a few unnecessary...

    Do we need moderators?

This is a great site - best one I've seen. But if there were a reasonable way to curtail the number of posts/replies by some of the more ego-challenged folks: people who just can't seem to believe how stupid everyone else is, or how many times the same question has been asked (by different...

Selecting last date from multiple rows

I don't have much more time for this right now. I understand the frustration with the logic - sorry. Here's a quick explaination - I won't be responding to this thread after this. You have 2 DBU queries - each one makes a single pass through the DBU table - once for the lastdate, and once to...

Selecting last date from multiple rows

No sub-query required for the option I outlined. Also, the 1 query I outlined only handles the data once. The 5 queries you outlined, while they certainly will work, must make 3 passes through the data, so take 3 times as long.

Selecting last date from multiple rows

Worth Mentioning... You should only be using two tables, not three. It is because you are using 3 tables that JonK's answer to you is necessary. I.e., writing 5 queries. If you only had two tables, you would only need 1 query. Suggested change: Your one table idenfying routers is fine...

Multiple table query coming up blank?

A couple of things to check... 1. Make your join a right or left join. In other words, right-click the link you created between your two tables, and select the option that says "show all records from X table, and only the records from Y table where there is a match" 2. Check your criteria...

    Sub Query

If you don't care which [max config] value is returned, then replace the [max config] field with: maxConfig: max([max config]) Or alternately, you can select max in the totals row of the query.

    Rows/Columns

What fields do you want in your query? For example: 1. Product ID 2. Product Name 3. Individual Price 4. Quantity etc... Can it sumarize the data for all products in the same query, or do you just want it to display the summary data for one product at a time?

    Query - Concatenating Fields

My department has a new website, and wants to give a listing of all of the classes we are offering. It's will be based on a static table that will be updated periodically through append & delete queries. What I'm trying to do now is write an append query that will copy one record per course...

    Query - Concatenating Fields

Thanks - your answer is right on, but I can see I was not very clear with my question... What I'm trying to do is take 2 rows that have identical data in each field except for 1 - for example: row 1: course field = SOC 202, instructor field = John Doe row 2: course field = SOC 202, instructor...
