Question Going from 2003 to 2010, Book Recomendation

I guess our company likes to play leap frog, so we didn't bother with 2007 ;) while I'm not in our IT dept, they rely on me to create and maintain the various databases in our company from our manufacturing planning to our engineering and several other odds and ends to help the day to day...

    Message response help

The even is adding a record through a form input, the table has the part number setup as the key with no duplicates allowed. The message shows up as this; The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or...

    Criteria to open form...

Here's what the Criteria in the query looks like and if someone does a sort, looks like they do a descending order on LYR, Last Year's qty, it adds this in the properties of the form; THEN when you go to open that form up, you get a second question for criteria but I just noticed that if...

    Criteria to open form...

Ok, I use a query with criteria to open a form up to view what records that fit. I use the same question in two fields, with wild cards around it so it will pull up records even if the criteria is imbedded in the middle of the fields. BUT, my trouble comes if someone viewing the resulting...

    Criteria on Percentage calculation

Haven't got the hang of that parameter dealybob yet, will read up on it as it still doesn't want to make the jump to light speed. VBA, the database is being used for reference only of our pricing, no entries will be made, only selection of certain part numbers. In this particular query, they...

    Criteria on Percentage calculation

Thanks Brian, that seems to work, sorry VBA that didn't seem to work. I did try to pre-empt the entry with a 0. but the . went away and that didn't work but as long as I explain to the users what they need to enter, that'll be fine! Much thanks, G2

    Criteria on Percentage calculation

I'm using Access 2003, have a query and a calc field that is presented as a perentage I want to make it so you can enter a value that is <= what you want to display say you want to view all records that are 33% or less. In the query if I enter <.33 it works and presents only those less than...

    Delete key wipes entire field

Correct it is not highlighted, as that would be all selected, it is a brandy new database, so not too old, I'll try importing and see if that clears the problem. Thanks, G2

    Delete key wipes entire field

Don't have the SP3 on my system yet, but had passed that along to some comrades that had other problems and that fixed those nicely. So not sure what to do with this, it didn't seem to do this before that I can recall at least. Thanks for the tip there though, G2

    Delete key wipes entire field

Working in Access 2003, in a field placed on a form, full editing is allowed. When I go to delete a portion or back space to delete some values, the entire field is emptied. But, if I muck about within the field, moving through the entry, then it will let me delete or backspace as I would...

Selecting Criteria on a form to run a Query

Thanks Paul, I think that will be the ticket, will digest that and see if I can change the names to suit the code. Much thanks again, G2

Selecting Criteria on a form to run a Query

I'd love one table, but the reasoning is they want to keep the drawing numbering 'size' to each of the drawing types, not incrementing one number for all drawings. basically replicating the individual books. Plus you can have a 1234A as well as a 1234B...but that's enough on the reasoning...
